DRIVE MORE TRAFFIC TO MY WEBSITE
HOW TO Drive More Traffic to my WebsiteIn this section I am going to cover "How to drive more visitors to my website".
And more importantly the right customers / visitors. It is no point getting lots of visitors and inquiries if you cannot fulfill the work. Or perhaps the traffic you're getting is attracting the wrong type of visitor. Those who basically click in and click out. We refer to this as bounce rate. Bounce Rate is what happens when a user clicks on one page, and then almost immediately leaves the website or page. The there is DWELL Time which influences a web pages authority and ranking. For it to be considered dwell time, the visitor needs to click on a page from the SERP (Search Engine Results Page, stay a while, and then either click back to the SERP or otherwise exit the page. If the visitor then clicks on another page of your website this is then refered to as Time On Page. Likewise what some people believe are (or those that Google tells you are) the most popular keywords are often not . They may be the most popular searched for keywords and Google will show you the numbers to back this up. However in your line of business you may be blinkered by these numbers and if your own vision is slightly narrowed by the whole Keyword process this can lead to some quite disappointing results. Especially if you're utilising Google Adwords and PPC Pay Per Click and are seemingly paying for click after click with no business to show for the cost. PLEASE NOTE: You also need to specify those words that you do not want in your adwords / PPC campaign. Example driving may refer to golf aswell as motoring. An example would be, you are a locksmith and your advert will appear every time the word "locksmith" appears. This would not help if someone searched for a car locksmith, especially if you do not offer these services, so unless you specify not to appear with this word you will be paying every time someone clicks on this. Likewise some of these searches may not be in your area, rendering them useless but expensive. And you will soon use up your daily budget. COMMON KEYWORD SEARCH PRACTICES Well in this next section I will try to teach you some of the nuances with the way people search. I have covered keywords in some detail but I am going to explain some subtle differences and in this section I am going to compare several businesses. The three Business / companies that I am going to compare is a London Driving School, a Yorkshire Removals Company, and a UK Saddle Company offering bespoke saddles for Sale and Fitting. For the sake of this article The Removals Company is based in a small town near to Boroughbridge, North Yorkshire, the Horse & Pony Saddle Company in the North of England and The Driving School in London ( that actually works out of the more specific area and location of Wimbledon). South West London to be precise! As I have pointed out earlier, your keywords should usually point out the exact nature of your product or service. This should reflect what an average person would type into Google to seek out or find your product or services. Users will then generally add their location or an area where they want to find those services or business. Now here is the location Keywords you need to consider London is a very big area to operate just one driving school out of. London is just too bigger area to operate in and meet customers demands. (unless you are a massive company such as BSM, AA or a Franchise operator such as RED). And this is one of the main difficulties for a small to medium size business is..... For a driving Instructor to drive across one part of London to the other, to specifically take people for driving lessons, this could sometimes take you hours and London is a massive city, you'd simply lose out on petrol and time spent not working whilst driving to and from locations one side of London to the other. The next main problem is who seriously would type in "Driving School London" (read more below). Generally people would type in their local area name, be it driving schools in Twickenham, Wandsworth, Richmond, Kingston or Wimbledon in London to search for a local driving Instructors or school. So basically the URL and it's keywords are somewhat flawed. Now the only people who I can see using these keywords are people new to London, such as foreign nationals based in London wanting to obtain a UK Driving Licence. Simply because they are just not aware of the size of London and don't know the specific areas of London. So I suppose it does then still have it's uses. ' In case you are looking for a driving school in London here are it's details below: London Driving School Flat 14, 104 Green Lane, Morden, Greater London, SM4 6FE United Kingdom 0800 612 6203 A more specific location keyword search aside from London would be South, West or South West London. Perhaps you require driving lessons in west London well the are two schools, that cover this yet still very large area, that you could try including West London Driving School WHEN ARE LARGER AREA KEYWORD SEARCHES REQUIRED People searching for Home Removal Companies looking to provide transportation of their home contents will probably widen their search area. By that I mean, they will not necessarily search for Home Removal Companies in their Local Town, be it in this scenario, Leeds, Ripon or Harrogate. Unless they are moving to or within the same locale or town. So in this case people searching for these services will widen their search area to the county, in this case Yorkshire. Or possibly North Yorkshire, and in some cases they will search the area they are moving to. Next Scenario Company that has Custom Saddles For Sale. Now this Saddle Company is based in the North of England and also offers a Custom Saddle fitting Service. Now this is a very specific and specialised product that will not be available in every town and therefore this company focuses its business on The North of England, North Wales and North Midlands. By limiting this companies product & service area it would almost definitely limit it's customer numbers, but on the other hand, it is not feasible for the business to operate and cover the whole of the country. And horse riders / owners, people buying these products will generally know that they are not going to be able to find these specific custom and bespoke saddles or specialist fitting services locally, (but will possibly check online if there is a local retailer, supplier or service provider). Therefore this company, if it limited itself, in terms of area and keyword searches, to the local area it would have little or no business but would quite probably rank very high for it's services. And again as above people are more likely to search for this product & service by using UK, their geographical location, i.e North of England and or their local or neighbouring counties. People expect to travel further to find some more bespoke services. So when your optimizing a website, and your looking at your keywords, location and ultimately looking at driving more customers to your websites, you need to be aware of all these different factors. Who are your customers?, Will they travel? Are they expecting to travel? Are you competing locally? Nationally or perhaps internationally? And can you compete in a larger area and geographic with your services or products? Should you start off local and expand on your success? Quite often, if you ask any business they actually know all of these things limitations and location based factors. But if you just ask them what are their keywords are they will fail to mention their location and become blinkered by simply the power of the web / internet and more specifically short tail, unspecific keywords! So get to know your clients business and ask the right questions. My website is suffering from bad backlinks |

LOCATION BASED SERVICES AND PRODUCTS
Location
Optimising your business for your location is crucial
Quite ofet I see businesses advertising there services but forget to even mention their location.
Now there is no point attracting customers if you can't service there area or location.
For example: Your business is to provide a service in London. People wanting to find your services would possibly type into the search engine (i.e. Google) " Your sepcific service and the location "LONDON".
However, London is a very large place and while and this does not appear to bother some people when searching for a location service, this could be a futile search.
Most people in London would search their local neighbourhood location postcode and what we have seen more recently is a growth of people using the search term "near me". Near me is only really appropriate when businesses appear on google maps within the search results.
People will expand there searches when they know or discover their specific required service is not available locally.
Search areas for location based services could look a little like this:
UK >> South of England >> Greater London >> London >> South London >> Kennington >> SE11 >> Ethelred >> Street >> House No or Building Name.
