Social Media Strategies within WebsitesFacebook
There is no doubt that the impact of social media and it's interaction with websites and the optimization of website is something that really has only got going only in the past few years. I'm amazed at the amount of big companies now that have their own Facebook page and use Facebook as part of their marketing strategy. Before it was just Twitter.
Of the main Social Media tools these are some of the best, in order of preference:
Social Media has also become a platform that people will use instead of a search engine. Social Media users are increasingly searching for products and services on their favourite platform, such as Facebook. Some Social Media Apps like Pinterest have become a kind of a bespoke search engine as peoples Pinterest boards can feature hundreds of products and ideas on one page, saving loads of time and effort. It is also felt that a good online social media presence adds another level of certainty about a product or service. Basically because these social media platforms are open to scrutiny, comment, review and criticism by the general public and potential buyers can instantly see followers, retweets, likes, shares, pins, views etc, adds another seal of approval as they are seen as recommendations. Furthermore approximately 15% - 20% of Google's algorithm works on activity / popularity. So by increasing activity on your website through the use of Social Media will improve your websites online presence. Additionally these social media sites provide useful and valuable backlinks to your website. Facebook is an excellent way of getting users to spread the word for you. Although there are many who think this lessens the impact of a product or brand image. But like TV advertising there is also a way of user subconsciously being drawn to a product. But I see it a kind of a pyramid marketing campaign! In a good way.....................! By that I mean if I like something on Facebook then my friends and family see what I like and they then might like the same product, image or video. And by one person liking this, who you know, you're kind of giving it a seal of approval. Then if their friends like it and this goes on and on! Now we have all probably seen the TV advert where this woman used Facebook to market her range of Traditional Style Satchels. Now this is the extreme of what is capable and you also have to bear in mind that, the product, brand, etc have to be exactly right and be at the right time, place, be seen by the right people, etc but I suppose this is possible! But everything else has to be right and fall into line. Now the Use of Twitter is very similar and you can create the same buzz around a product or service in this way. Open Graph helps with Social Media Kind of like Meta Tags, anyway Open Graph tags tell Facebook and other social networks how best to share content that's on your website. As a minimum put in a title, description, image, type and site name for each page. And when your website is shared socially it will look great too. You can even specify which image it should use! Don't underestimate the power of social media. |
SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGIESDeveloping a Social Media Strategy is crucial to the success of your website. But it's not the be all and end all. And quite frankly I get fed up of people telling me it is!
Yes Google does pay attention to Social Media interest, but to what extent I am not sure. You can still have a high ranking website without being constantly on Twitter and Facebook or even Google Plus. Social Media should be seen as a way to spread the word, a way to get more visitors and people interested in your product. But just by being liked by hundreds of people is not going to get your website to No.1 in Google and you'd be a fool to think so. Yes it helps but there is so much more than needs to be right with your website for this to count. Social Media should be seen as one of the many Jigsaw pieces to make up the bigger picture. There are many problems with social media and some of it is just starting to look and feel like spam. Getting people to follow you can be difficult and you need to offer them something in exchange for following you. Sometimes just having good content is just not enough. Try quizzes competitions and prize draws to get people to follow you and this in turn will draw their friends and family in. SOCIAL MEDIA & YOUTUBE Google used to be obsessed with Youtube but this seems to have relaxed, I remember a time when everything you searched had a Youtube Video in their somewhere. Again this should be part of your much bigger marketing campaign and also one of the many tools to help you website rank highly Now Google Plus is an unknown quantity but as with everything that is Google related this type of social media they are now offering will help with your website optimization. Use of Google Tools - Yep to feature highly in Google you need to be using Google tools! Some of the Google tools you should be using and that will help your website, in no particular order are:
