HOW MANY WEBSITE PAGES DO I NEED?

So. when I get a new client they are usually asking me why they 're website is not ranking in Google.

One of the most common issues I find is that their website does not have enough pages. And then they ask "How many pages do I need?" 

Well that does depend. I do know that more equals more and achieves better results, but what is the minimum no of web page you need?

HOW MANY WEBSITE PAGES DO YOU NEED?

Yeah, so generally I tell my clients they need a minumum of 6 pages and a blog page to rank. 

And that each page needs to focus on a minimum of x number of keywords,  with images and additional content.

BUT DO I KNOW THIS FOR SURE?
Well in short no? All I Know is Google loves content and the more content you have the better your page/s and or website will rank.

SO I DECIDED TO TEST IT OUT
So initially I set up a one page wbsite for my name "Zach Mendelsohn". I thought there are quite a few websites and people using Zach Mendelsohn as a keyword and that would be a simple and easy benchmark. to follow.

I mean, if I can't rank highly for my own name then surely there is proof in the theory and I have evidenced this with practice (nearly said pudding then).

So it took nearly 3 weeks for Google to pick it up in searches (search results) despite me linking to it.

And is now only on page 3 of Google.

SO I ADDED A GOOGLE BUSINESS LISTING (NOT AVAILABLE ANYMORE)

Interestingly this webpage is now No.1 in Bing Search Engine.

It appears Google is a bit more disconcerning! And is much further down the list.

So that has not stopped me!

I have used existing accounts and created new social media channels to link to this new website.

And I have basically thrown everything at it.

Results are ongoing but they do seem to back up my and other peoples theories.

WHICH IS: That you need more than one wesbite page to rank highly in Google. 

HOWEVER
Results were not as bad as I expected though and I hope to update you on further improvements.

It has just made it into page one, at the bottom of the list in position 9. With all the effort and linking I would coclude Google does not like one page websites. Unless it is it's own business.site page. WHich has faired much better but still not great.

Well I have just entered into the SEO Hero challenge with online website builder wix who has challenged everyone to beat them. Apparently everyone has been saying how rubbish their onsite SEO features are. So to put the matter straight they have built a website and as of 16th of November they have challenged the interent world to bet them, To win you must rank higher than them for the keyword "SEO Hero" in the gogle search engine by and on 16 th o March 2017.

So for those that know me I tend to favour Weebly for my websites and for optimization.

It is a tried and tested patform and with the ability to edit code I believe it is unbeatable.

However the guys at WIX have had months to build, edit, refine, get blog posts and articles ready their website. They ultimately have a platform, the staffing and the outreach with existing clients and advertising audience to smash the hell out of this challenge. Aditionally we have to give them access to our webmaster and analytics accounts. Do we get access to theirs? Not a chance.

Kind of one sided contest but hey they are dealing with WIX platform, but I suppose their tech guys will have the ability to edit the backend of their website, so I for one wil be keeping a firm eye on their actual website to ensure it is exactley the WIX Platform and they are not adding back end coding, that is impossible if joe bloggs was to decide to build their own website on that platform,

It will be the equivalent of Gladiator where the hero before the battle has been shackled and stabbed.

There was a lot of cheating going on, also by WIX (paid marketing) and I really don't agree with the judges decision. The temrs and conditions stated that the website must be in english but the winner used both Engish and French?!

Glad I entered but fully realise it was a marketing tool used by WIX to basically stop the bad press about it's really SEO. So let's hope they have improved.

By the way I believe I was the only one in the top 50 to be using Weebly as it's platform. So I should get extra Kudos here. 

I did contact Weebly for some support during the competition but I heard nothing back! There loss....... in promoting their own platform.
